Goomeri Pumpkin Festival

Goomeri Pumpkin Festival

The Great Australian Pumpkin Roll ™ -add this to your list of quirky things to tell your friends you did on your motorhome holiday!

Goomeri, a small town about an hour west of Gympie and an hour 45 minutes west of Noosa plays host to the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival , held on the last Sunday of May every year and offers you the once in a lifetime opportunity to roll a pumpkin down a hill.

Apart from the obvious fun this is, there are only so many pumpkins you can roll down a hill, but don’t worry, there is so much more you can do at the Festival. This is Goomeri’s party.

There is all day entertainment on the big stage and street markets featuring a wide range of food containing pumpkin – pumpkin scones, pumpkin bread rolls, pumpkin pies, pumpkin sausages (I’m not joking) and our personal favourite – the best pumpkin soup you will ever taste!

You can certainly make a weekend of this event – festivities start on the Friday night with a BBQ tea at Goomeri Bowls Club where you can share a steak sandwich and a cold beer with the locals, then on the Saturday, frock up for the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Dinner Dance (bookings essential).

Camping is available on the Goomeri Sportsground (click here to book) and there is even a camping ground lucky draw.

If you are looking for something fun to do on your Queensland holiday, add this to the itinerary!
