The most magical places to visit in Australia during Spring

While different parts of Australia have much to offer throughout the year, there is something special about travelling whilst much of the country is in bloom. The sun starts to shine a little brighter, the sea feels a little warmer, and the evenings start to linger longer – all of which is a hugely inviting time to hit the great open road.

At Let’s Go Motorhomes, we have a range of vehicles to suit you and your group – whether that’s family, friends, older folks or younger, there are plenty of options to work for your needs.  There’s never been a better time to have a taste of what’s in your own backyard.

Spectacular Spring Holiday Spots

Much of Australia’s spectacular scenery truly comes into its own during Spring, with many bulbs and blossoms blooming and signalling the start of summer.

NSW

At the Blue Mountains, a stone’s throw from Sydney, visitors can marvel at the floral finery at many of the local towns and villages. The Leura Garden Festival is one such example, proudly showcasing the local azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, camellias and other cool climate exotics, as well as flowering annuals, perennials and bulbs. It’s a great time of year to experience the refreshing air over a short break – rock climbing, bushwalking, caving and more!

QLD

A great spot to explore in springtime is the Whitsundays – one of the jewels in Queensland’s crown, comprising 74 island wonders. There are plenty of caravan parks to choose from, ensuring you have the best stay possible. Airlie Beach, the tropical hub of The Whitsundays, is jam-packed with restaurants, bars, boutique shops and the infamous Airlie Beach lagoon.

Further afield, top activities in the region include hiking, snorkelling, trips to the Great Barrier Reef and more! At this time of year, there are fewer jellyfish in the region [peak season runs November – May], which makes for a more seamless trip. Be sure to always carry vinegar with you and consult local medical advice to ensure a safe trip, whatever time of year.

NT

This is also an excellent time to head into the Red Centre if you live in the Northern Territory. Whilst notoriously hot, the pre-summer season is a reasonable temperature – with the mercury hovering below 30 degrees centigrade. The native flora – comprising over 400 different plants – also puts on an impressive display at this time of year, which you won’t want to miss.

WA

If you live in WA, Spring is the perfect time to visit Margaret River. The famous wine region is located in the south-west corner of Western Australia. The town is not only known for its world class wineries, but also its stunning beaches and surf breaks. Now is the best time for whale watching. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get an up close and personal view of the whales as they return to Margaret River’s warm waters during Springtime.

SA

There’s so much to see and do at Kangaroo Island during Spring. The South Australian region is home to some of the country’s most stunning flora and fauna. During Spring, Kangaroo Island transforms into a feast for the senses with beautiful wildflowers and native plants in full bloom. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll spot some amazing wildlife creatures. From hiking, kayaking and fishing to mountain biking and exploring the incredible Remarkable Rocks, the list of activities to do at Kangaroo Island is endless!

VIC

If you live in Victoria and when travel is permitted, do yourself a favour and book a week away at Wilsons Promontory National Park this Spring. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Victoria. If you visit during Spring, you will experience the magnificent displays of wildflowers including orchids, wattle and heathland. Wilsons Prom is also home to some of the country’s most spectacular beaches and a host of native wildlife animals including emus, kangaroos, wombats and echidnas.
